DNA Activity

We are learning about organic molecules the nucleic acid, so we will make a DNA which is one type of nucleic acid. Our group have 3 people. We will get a Twizzlers- like candy, toothpick, gummy bear (4 different color), and permanent marker. First we will color the Twizzlers-like candy into a stripe with the permanent marker make it represent the pentose sugar. Next put the toothpick into the gummy bear and then connect it with the pentose sugar to represent the bond. The bear will have it pair, red-yellow and green-orange. So now we will get our DNA. The thing I like is that we need to concentrate in the work to be sure that we are matching the correct pair of color or not and it help to make me remember about the pairing easier. The thing I found hard is making the model, the gummy bear are very sticky and thick so it hard to pierce the toothpick in.
