Organic Molecules Lab

In this quarter, we've learned about the four types of organic molecules including the carbohydrates, lipids, proteins, and nucleic acids. In the lab we are using the indicator to test and observe each organic molecules. The color of the indicator will change after it touch the organic molecules. Me and my partner get to test the protein by using Biuret reagent (mixing CuSO4+NaOH). The result is that if it contain protein it will change color to purple. After that we will have an unknown and we need to test what organic molecules it contain. The thing I like in this lab is it help to practice our analysis skill when we are working with the unknown. The thing I found hard in this lab is it hard to know whether you put in enough Biuret reagent to the solution to test for protein or not.
ESLOs:
- Leaders of the future - work with my partner to test the sample
- Innovative thinkers - use the knowledge we know to analyze what is the unknown
