Research Proposal
Our group are going to do about deforestation to gain area for farming, disruption of nutrient cycle from industrial farming methods, the harmful gases released in farming and how it affects climate change, overfishing in the ocean, overuse of pesticide, and CAFOs, a feeding operation that feed animal unnatural diets. Deforestation is occurred so people can have more area for farming and feeding animal, loss of rainforest cause extinction. Disrupting nutrient cycle by overusing the fertilizer making it flow through the runoff and go into the ocean causing deadzone. Meat production use fossil fuels which release a lot of carbon dioxide and nitrous oxide which is bad to the environment. Fishing industries usually use a huge net to catch a lot of fish all at once so it accidentally catches the fish they don’t really need, causing some species to become extinct. Using pesticide on the crop can cause it to contain some chemical substance which is bad to animal and human. CAFOs the feeding method which give the animal unnatural diet which use more water and fertilizer to make them grow than grass.
We choose to do deforestation because it’s a thing that are very common so I think it is one of the major reason we should talk about. Another topic we select is disruption of nutrient cycle because it is caused by overuse of fertilizer which widely used by many farms so we want to state the effect of using it. We also choose overfishing because we know from the cowspiracy that more than five time of non-traded sea animal compare to the consumed fish are accidently caught by the industries during the fishing process so we want to know the effect of losing those species from the ecosystem. We make a choice on releasing of gas from agriculture because at present there are a lot of factory and we are facing global warming so we want to know how it related together and how much does animal agriculture affect the environment. We selected overuse of pesticide because pesticides are widely used by many farm and the substance inside it are harmful to both human and animal so we want to know some disorder it can cause. The last topic we choose is CAFOs feeding method because we know only a little bit about it and we interested in it.
